5 RACES, 5 STAMPEDE REPEATERS
Five repeat winners were the order of the evening as
Texas Motor Speedway hosted the second annual “Racin’
& Rasslin’” during the Classic Chevrolet
Pre-Owned & Hummer Thursday Night Stampede.
Derek Shumaker recovered from an early-race incident
to win the Legends Pro 25-lapper. The Merino family
made two trips to the winner’s circle again, father
Robert topping the Legends Masters and son Scott defeating
brother Mark for his second straight Stampede Legends
Semi-Pro victory. Bandolero racing also saw repeat victors,
Johnny “The Shark” Gottsacker in the Bandits
and Mark Webb Jr. in the Young Guns.
KSCS’ Brother Van, with clown Racer Roy riding
shotgun, broke into victory lane in the KSCS School
Bus Race. Brother Van survived several last-lap severe
bumps on his rear bumper by 24-year school bus driving
veteran Rascal Jones of Marshall, TX to win.
Shumaker was sent to the back of the Legends Pro field
after an early-race incident with leader Jared Whitton.
He moved through the pack to take the lead on lap 16.
Robert Merino moved by Rick Howle on the eighth trip
around the quarter-mile paved oval and won the caution-filled
12-lap Legends Masters race, ended by the time limit.
Tony Scott paced the opening nine laps of the Legends
Semi-Pro feature before Scott Merino took control, beating
his brother by 0.62 seconds.
Gottsacker overtook Chris Buescher on the third lap
and ruled the remainder of the 15-lap Bandits feature.
Webb passed early pacesetter Skylar Riley on the second
circuit and paced the rest of the 15-lap Young Guns
run.
Hotstuff Hernandez beat Ricky Murdoch to hold on to
the NWA North American pro wrestling title, J.P. Black
defended his NWA Texas Heavyweight crown against Al
Jackson, Texas Trailer Trash beat ReGex for the NWA
Texas Tag Team title and Chaz Taylor was declared the
winner over Doink the Klown.
