Cherokee Racing has successful
weekend at Red River Speedway 3/15/03
First of all we would like
to thank the new Track owner Mike Cooper. We could not
have asked for a better person to take control of Red
River. If you have not been to Red River Speedway since
he took over, you will not recognize the place. He and
his crew are doing an awesome job at making the facilities
better, and at promoting the races for us.
On friday night the track
had an open practice, Cherokee Racing comprised the
whole practice field and the All-Star truck series also
practiced. The NBC affiliate brought their news crew
out and video taped us in a mach race for some promotional
footage on the news. Then on Saturday night the NBC
crew was back out there and broadcast our heat race
live on the 6:00pm news. This is going to be a great
year in Texas for Legends racing and promotions like
the crew at Red River are doing are going to make it
bigger and better than ever.
Make sure you check out
the pictures on the media page, there was a guy at the
races named Diamond Dan, he brought his four wheeler
with a jet engine on it. He says if he let it rip, he
could reach 200mph in 400yrds. He let it rip a little
on the front stretch and barely made it threw turns
one and two. They say that he will be back during the
grand opening in April, check back here for info on
that.
Saturday nights race was
rain shortened, the Legend ran a 10 lap main event and
then the rest of the night was canceled. However, Cherokee
did score a 1st place in Pro with Buddy Goudy, a 1st
place in Semi-Pro with Randy Mile, 3rd place in Semi-Pro
with Tommy Strader, a 2nd in Masters with Tim McDonald,
and 3rd in Masters with Don Brown. Great weekend over
all, see the media page for
pictures from our weekend. |
